VET student numbers show continued growth in 2008

Student numbers continued to grow in Australia's vocational education and training (VET) system during 2008, with 1.7 million enrolments, up 1.9 per cent from 2007.

The latest figures released by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) show the number of Queensland students also continues to grow, with 290,000 enrolments in 2008, a 1.5 percent increase.

Significantly more Queensland VET students are undertaking longer, nationally accredited courses, including certificate III and certificate IV courses

The number of international students undertaking VET courses in Australia increased with enrolments up by 14.7 per cent since 2007.
